Year of the Tiger — BADMARKET (2022)

Boldness is the star of the show in this modern take on Chinese spring couplets (春联). Typically made of red paper and adorned with black or gold lettering, 春联 are pasted around the doorway of one’s house as an invocation of good luck going into the Lunar New Year.

We absolutely adore this boundary-pushing interpretation of 春联, created by the Guangzhou-based apparel brand BADMARKET in celebration of the Year of the Tiger. The couplets’ minimalist composition is complemented by the lucky envelopes pasted in the middle of the arrangement, as well as by the square decoration that cheekily swaps out the Chinese character for luck (福) with BADMARKET’s logo.
