Check-in Poster

It’s check-in time! This lighthearted poster turns the prosaic experience of checking into a conference into a playful one with dynamic shapes and an electrifying palette of neons. It’s motivation enough to attend Taiwan’s annual Design Expo, held in Hsinchu in 2020.

Resonance Island Poster

Dots galore create concentric circles that draw us in. A sense of the resonance island comes through in the visuals, and is reinforced by the stunning blocky Chinese type that mimicks formal structures.

光動 (Light Driving) Poster

This piece stuns viewers with an eye-warping sense of movement and delight. It does a lot with a little—a monochrome format and a repetitive pattern drives forward an exciting illusion.

Imagining a Bio Lab

Created for the 2020 “Imagining a Bio Lab” workshop run by the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB). The stark contrast between the translucent green goo used to spell out “Bio Lab” and the unmodulated/sans serif fonts situated at the top and bottom of the poster is truly divine. If there was a visual for the […]

時代造就風格造就時代 STYLE OF STYLE

This entrancing triptych cleverly uses different arrangements of the same Chinese phrases to emphasize the circularity of style over time. Emulating a clock, the phrases on each poster (all three of which can be viewed at the source link) can be interpreted starting at the character at the 1 o’clock mark. The featured phrases include […]

Illustration of the New Year (春节插画)

This playful and youthful graphic encapsulates the extravagance and joy that a Lunar New Year celebration can hold. It’s the details that draw us in, like the king (王) ring and the lucky 8s in the cards.

New Year Card

We love the (literal) cheekiness of this greeting card, whose design emulates the tail of a pig. The Taipei-based firm Triangler Studio developed this card for CPC Corporation, Taiwan’s state-owned petroleum company. Regarding the design, the Triangler team writes: “Just before 2019 comes, CPC Corporation Taiwan wanted to have a series of graphics and to […]

博士雙胞胎品牌形象海報 (Dr. Twins Brand Poster)

We love this poster’s juxtaposition of delectable donuts and delightfully layered copy. Made for the Chiayi-based donut brand Dr. Twins, these posters sing the praises of its eponymous product: the Taiwanese donut 雙胞胎 (shuāngbāotāi; literally translated as “twins”).

集集集度放空學校

A combination of sharp shapes and woozy curved lines comes together in this poster’s typeface — a blend of straightforward and shifty. The poster highlights Jijijidu Free School, a local event created by the Taiwan-based organization Huakang Font that centers the power of font design in illuminating the town. The event connects 36 locations around […]

不速之客 Uninvited Guest

Turquoise blue and iceberg white meld in this book cover, where the simplicity isn’t a substitute for lack of style. The Chinese typeface is disjointed into thin slices, bringing a lightness to the focal point of the design. The crispness of the composition satisfies the eye and captures our attention.
